Iowans clog dance their way into world record book

The residents of a town in Iowa have broken the world record for clog dancing.

In order to set the Guinness world record they had to dance for five minutes without a break.

More than 2,500 people in the town of Pella danced for more than six minutes, breaking the previous record set by 475 people in The Netherlands in 2006.

Some dancers stuffed their wooden clogs with sponges or wore thick socks.

Event co-ordinator Sallie DeReus said people were inspired by a newspaper article.
